Hi Gurus,
I have efiled for my wife's EAD/AP renewal. When I finally submitted, the total payment asked was only $645( 340 for EAD and 305 for AP). But, there is a note stating the following:
"The biometric fee is $80 for applicants ages 14 through 79 who request a Refugee Travel Document or Re-Entry Permit, unless the applicant resides outside the United States at the time of filing their form."
How am I supposed to send this? I was not asked to pay this amount during my efiling of the AP/EAD concurrent filing.
How am I supposed to send this? Can I send it as a separate check for $80 only for the biometric fee( because I had already paid for the EAD/AP using my credit card)
Please advise.
Also, during the AP filing, I got this:
"On a separate piece of paper, please explain how you would qualify for an Advance Parole and what circumstances warrant issuance of Advance Parole. Include copies of any documents you wish considered. (See instructions.) "
What an I supposed write in the document that I am going to send to USCIS?

I have the RFE, it doesn't state the exact instead mentions 12 weeks from the date of this letter. And the date of the letter is Jan 8, 2008
Just have them reply to the RFE at the earliest...Usually, they take a few days after the deadline to re-process the case...They might consider your reply, even if its late by a few days, if they already did not take action/deny your petition....If they already denied your petition before the response reaches them, they you will have to file a MTR, which takes quite a while and also you cannot use I-485 benefits till a decision is made....Also, make sure a cover letter is sent along with the response mentioning the reason for the delay (like u said substantial changes to company financials)....Bottomline, reply at the earliest....Good luck.....

My experience, this is at the Mumbai consulate in 2004. At that time they had the drop box in place. I mailed my documents and they returned everything back with my H1 stamped.
My wife went for her H4 stamping (second stage) in 2005. They asked for all the original documents i.e my I-797 and her I-797 but returned both of the documents back at the end of the interview. I think she had copies with her and they kept those.
Best bet is to contact VFS and inquire.

Thanks PCS. I am not sure congressman office staff will be familiar with USCIS, 485 and such things. That is why i am wonder whats the best way to approach or phrase my question so that they wont be confused but can get their attention.
I plan to book an appointment and drive there ... i guess i can do that right.

points mentioned in post 6 can be considered but companies wont agree for that, They wont accept the suggestions/points given by employee.
Exactly same thing happened in my case. Our company prepared position description,posted ads and just before filing PERM,they said we got enough resumes and we found candidates. We cannot file green card. If economy improves after 6 months we will review the scenario and start the process all over again and I was schocked to hear that answer. They received 25 resumes for my position.

Green card dream is over. Now it's the time to get back to India or other countries.
uma001...you are very correct. The GC thing is over for India born applicants. The EAD people due to July 2007 fiasco will be in AP status for many many years
to come.
Had the July 2007 not happened, a whole lot of EB - India cases would have
been finished by now due to job losses. So in way the July 2007 is a massive lifeboat for many EB2/3- India applicants.
Economic cycles are around 7/8 years or so. There will be a recession again after around 8 years. EB2/3_India backlogs are longer than economic cycles.

unfortunately, we cannot go back to our home country, as unemployment rate is insanely high, we would be both without jobs, no place to live, another civil war may break any day now and we do not want to go through all that all over again...
As each day pass, Canada looks even better as our new motherland ...or at least we hope

This is really a great effort to bring all immigration related information under one roof.
I have one suggestion. Is it possible to increase number of rows to 200( choice to users with 25/50/100/200 showings per page) and show more than 5 pages of data. I believe at least 10 pages is a good start.

I had only I-485 receipt (previous I-94 expired, passport had validity for only 3 weeks) and in MA I got a driver's license for 5 years.

Per this press note, Nebraska has issued receipts for I-485 upto July 11 and Texas 26th June....
But I don't think all the July 2 filers have their checks cashed out. And secondly for Nekraska the I-485 cut-off date is mentioned as "7/112007". May be it's a typo and it is infact 7/1/2007.

I got my licensed extended till EAD expiry date and they have given me an month more than EAD expiry date, this was done in Wayne, NJ, and I know atleast 20 people who got their license extended on base of EAD in Wayne. Your friend might not have provided other required documents, you just dont get license renewed on base of EAD only, you have to provide address proof, SS etc. Your friend might have missed some of the documents or he might have shown attitude to the the clerk, or that clerk might have taken lessons from USCIS employees in creating their own rule.
A freind of mine had two years EAD and don't have H1 anymore. His drivers License was denied as EAD is not considered a valid document for drivers License extention.
This happened in Wayne , NJ.

ok..here is part 2.
Employer was able to speak to USICIS officer. He asked
whethere
1) I was contractor
2) from when I was employed
3) Work timings
4) exact office Location
my supervisor asked why all these questions about location and timing they said they will do a site visit
I feel if my app can trigger this than any other app could...
The USICs is just getting crazy with all the bueracacy crap
USCIS is not getting crazy ....It's preplanned well defined strategy to kick out immigrants ...first they choked the system so that everyone is stuck and now picking more & more people in the name of verification

does anyone the fate of future GC aspirants...i mean the people who are not in the run for 485...whose Labor is not approved...does anyone until when the pd going to stay current...of course the bulletin says pd might retrogess in the month of September for indian born nationalities...?? is there any chance that the pd might retrogess in the next month itself..??
