A friend of mine works for a non-profit and has always been with only one employer (employer A) . He had been on H1 for three years and then used his AC21/EAD card for a year now (again employer A - just wanted to save money by using EAD card instead of applying for H1 again). Can he reapply for an H1 again (same employer A again - no caps apply as this is a non-profit) or is it that once one uses an EAD card, H1 is given up forever?

I never got kWordpad to do this for me. Though after you mentioned it, I went back and took another look. I noticed that if upon opening the window, I clicked on the Bold button first and then went and began typing, the Bold button would return to an unChecked state and my text would not be bold. However if I first clicked once inside of the rich textbox and then clicked the bold button, when I started typing the text would be bold.

So I went into the source and added: "this.MainRichTextBox.Focus();" directly benieth “InitializeComponent” to the Window1.xaml.cs file, so that the rich textbox would already have been ‘clicked’ upon opening and now it works just like wordpad as far as applying styles.

Are you getting similar behavior or not? If its working differently for you, is there any chance you know whats happening here?

Either way, thanks for making me take a second look. And just while I have you on the line, I want to tell you I love the website. The tutorials here are great. Most sites simply give snippits, but don’t give you all of how they achieved this or that feature. So its nice to know that when I start something here, all of the info I need to finish it or get it working is included. I'm looking forward to more in the WPF field.

P.S. Just as a side note I was curious why you have:

in the Window1.xaml.cs file when the Selected Index is already set in Expression Blend (0).

Just for fun I changed it to: SelectedValue=”Calibri” in the C# file and left the Selected index in Expression Blend at 0. Now when I run kWordpad the combo box has Calibri set as the defualt but resets to Arial as soon as I begin typing in the rich textbox.

What makes this really odd to me is that if it is being set by the selected index in Expression Blend, then the selected index would have to be set at 9 on my computer in order for it to choose Arial as the default (for me 0 is Abyssinica SIL). So where is it getting Arial from; and how is it that it is ignoring both the SelectedDefaultFont and the SelectedIndex? I realize this may seem tedius, but I just hate not knowing... "to be continued" at the end of a tv show makes me nuts too; I'm seeking help.

i think it should be ok because some apply with non-availability certificate instead of birth certificate since they cant get one. Usually it depends on the immigration officer who reviews your petition at that time and what decision he takes. disclaimer: But check with your immigration attroney as I'm nt an attroney.

if possible get one with first/last name, i think it is easier to show the existing one and get new one because existing one has parents details too. dont take chances in I-485, because if anyone get RFE (query) then it will delay your case atleast a month or two, because you have to resend one again.

How about birth certificate stating initial and First name (not first name and last name). Any sugestions?

AFAIK you cannot use your SSN to receive google adsense revenues if you want to continue on H1B. It counts as business income and Google will send you a 1099 form and that is not allowed on an H1B. What people usually do is get someone in their home country to be the Google Adsense beneficiary. If you use your own ssn, on paper, it puts you out of H1B status.

Passive income is alright. AFAIK banks send you 1099 if you earn interest in your saving account (above a certain amount) or CD. Have to report it to IRS.

Which US consulate did you apply? Do you already have H1B on your passport? I think the best option will be to approach your employer and have them sort this issue out. Sometimes, the consulate will request for some additional information from the employer and once they get this information, they will issue the visa.

I too think requesting the employer to take the action, with their lawyer. If they are good, and with no issues, they must initiate this and fix it,
but if they are not good, they may withdraw at this point and may feel "lets not get into more headaches"... in which case you may not pursue further.
I can imagine how it feels, belv me, yet, keep looking and dont give up

What happens if I transfer my H1B from A to B (A has concurrently filed I140/485, >180 days, I 140 NOT approved). Can I have B do AC21 after I 140 from A gets approved (may take 4-5 more months) ? Do I HAVE to be with employer "A" till I 140 gets approved? (employer A does not intend to revoke I 140...and I understand there is a risk if ther is an RFE on I 140 during this period)

If Company A does not withdraw -140 then you are in good shape. But if A withdraws, you have to start all over again.

TO be on AC-21 (EAD) you just have to get new I-9 to 'B' and (your choice) send letter to USCIS.

I have seen people talking about getting approvals with misdemeanors, but each case may be different. Murthy.com forums has a special section for people dealing with misdemeanor issues and have gone through the process, may be you will get some more tips about preparing for the interview there. I had the same problem.

You can always paper file. That will solve the issue. If you want to E-file, here's how I did it with Trubotax:

put '0' for wife's AGI and e-file.
IRS will respond saying that last year's AGI and ur answer does not match. You have to send in form 8453-OL to sign your return. This means that your return is conditionally accepted, but you MUST mail the signature form for it to be complete.

(turbotax will provide you the form). Print it out, fill it and sign (you and spouse) and send it in.

Thats it!
