Hello, I have recently purchased a usb hard drive to work with my jail broken iPad running 4.2.1.
I was originally running the tethered redsn0w jailbreak when I bought the drive. First thing I done was reformat the drive to FAT32. I then connected it to the iPad using a y-splitter cable, one end into the camera connection kit and the other to a power source (in the case the iPad wall usb charger). It worked fine, mounted in iFile and everything worked smoothly.
So I added some files to the drive from my laptop then later on watched a movie on the iPad that was stored on the HDD, it was all going great. Since I have gone to an untethered jailbreak using pwnage or whatever it was called and it mysteriously stopped working. I then tried the untethered greenp0ison. Didnt work. Went back to the tethered jailbreak. Didn't work. Baffled I tried different versions of iFile. Reformatting the drive as different file systems etc, I just couldnt seem to get it to work.
I did however notice when plugged in it would show up in /dev as disk5s1 or something like that and I followed a tutorial on how to mount it via SSH. Managed to mount it as a folder in iFile. Since ejecting it and trying it again it didnt work. Thought I'd maybe need to do the SSH stuff again, so tried that, no dice.
Just wandering if anyone has some sort of insight as to how I can get this to work. It HAS worked so I know it can. The drive is new. Mounts with no issues on Mac and Windows computers. It cant be a power issue because the drive spins and all that and no error message on the iPad. I just cant seem to get it to mount in iFile as a drive. Even if I could just navigate to a folder each time where it was mounted would be good. I really hope I can get this fixed as I planned on using it as a way or backing up photo's whilst travelling in the coming months and carrying some extra video content.

I have bought an iPad while in the US and I see I can save some money if I also get the AppleCare. My question is would AppleCare bought in the US be valid in Europe if i have a problem ?

The question asked of heterosexuals =/= asked gay and bisexual men. The risk factor for straight people is risky sex, the risk factor asked for gay men is not risky sex, but sex at all - even once. Its not the same thing. If there was no bigotry behind the question it would be raised this way to all, no matter what orientation "have you had unprotected sex with more than one partner in the last 5 years, if yes have you been tested for HIV?"

I will say something about SPRINT. First off, that article is WRONG!
Baltimore, Maryland is the 1st SPRINT test market for 4G, but it's not even mentioned in that article! I know so because SPRINT is actively advertising it and it's been in other press reports. So how many other test markets did they miss in their alleged comparison of 4G vs. 3G I wonder?
Um, all of them, I guess. That test was carried out locally, since the local city, at that time, provided "4G" from the 3 tested providers. I'm not sure why that would be a problem for you. The only issue I have with it is that Tmob is not tested to cover all 4 national providers, perhaps that wasn't up and running in Detroit at the time. Now all they need to do is lower the price to $75, or include dotMac with iLife, or give discounts on Apple software with the purchase of .Mac.
Oh, and they need to increase speed and storage. And they need to add support for smartphones by enabling "push" IMAP.
And they in general need to stop depending on their tie-ins to the OS to make it worth it for the service... thats something MS would do. Make it worth it because it is a better product.

I would go with the 9800 also. The Geforce 6200 I have doesn't work in MDD's for some odd reason but does work in all other AGP G4 towers. The 9800 will also outperform a GF 6200.
Be sure to get a Radeon 9800 Pro rather than a regular 9800. About the same prices but the Pro is faster.

I've owned my SB (2011) MBP for over a month now. I have yet to use the Thunderbolt port and wished many times that it had USB3.0 support. Are there any Thunderbolt adapters available on the market yet? TB to USB 3.0 would be great. Alternatively a docking station would be cool. Anything besides the one LaCie drive?
